Challenges for lawyers to respect confidentiality and professional secrecy in a digital world always on the run

Summary/Abstract: Confidentiality and respecting the professional secrecy are the cornerstones of the relationship between lawyers and their clients; Confidentiality is an ethical value of the legal profession, respectively an absolutely essential principle without which there would be no adequate protection of the client and without which the lawyer could not practice his profession. But can they still be respected in a digital world? Are we aware that we allow access to confidential data to third parties for communication and instant access to information? In this article we analyze the different types of platforms we use on a daily basis without realizing that they could have an implication on the obligation of professional secrecy and client confidentiality.
