Realization of elision in the media speech regarding the syllable structure

Summary/Abstract: The results of a previous pilot experiment, based on the most frequent sound changes in Bulgarian media speech (Bozhanina 2018) gave us reason to pay special attention to еlision as a common phonetic change and to continue the study of this phenomenon in view of its correlation with various speech factors – type of speech sounds, syllable structure and syllable type. The results of this empirical observation show that the elision affects more consonants than vowels and as a consequence onsets and codas than nucleus, as well as onset – neucleus and onset – rhyme syllable type rather than nucleus syllable type.
