Derivation techniques in European health terminology (comparison of monosyllabic terms in Bulgarian, Polish and English)

Summary/Abstract: This paper studies the Bulgarian, Polish and English legal terminology in the field of Public health of the European Union. Only one-word-terms, which are derivatives are being analysed. The aim is to compare their word-building structure and to distinguish which derivational categories and types are the most frequent in each language. Only terms from the category nomina agentis are presented in all three languages. Affixation is the most used word-formation process in Bulgarian terminology, paradigmatic derivation – in Polish, and conversion – in English.
