Summary/Abstract: Its enlargement policy is one of the most successful policies of the European Union, evidence of which is the results achieved over the last two years. Enlargement to the east occurred in May 2004 when ten new members joined the EU, while in 2005 we were witnesses to a dynamic process of association with the EU amongst the Balkans and Turkey. The enlargement policy does not lose momentum in spite of all the challenges taking place in Europe. Countries knocking on the door of the big European house, including Montenegro, have defined the EU association process as their strategic priority. ‘Europe-isation’ is a driving force behind all reform processes and positive opportunities in a society, anticipating that the future enlargement policy of Brussels will also be stimulating and open to new member states.
