Summary/Abstract: Civil servants’ training should represent one of the fundamental concerns of public institutions and authorities. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the civil servants training system at the level of local public institutions. As case studywe selected the territorial administrative units located in the South-West Region of Romania, Oltenia. The research uses the Kirkpatrick model to determine if the civil servants’ training courses lead to increasing efficiency in their activity. The results shed light on two aspects: the limited financial resources of the local authorities which lead to allocating few resources for the training courses; the indifference of the management of public institutions towards training courses which are not considered a priority.
