Summary/Abstract: Mehmet Başbuğ is one of the most brillant Turkish painters in the Anotolian region of the last period. He comes to the fore with his social realistic paintings. Mehmet Başbuğ has made the people of Anatolia, Central Asia and the Turkish World, the subject of himself in his paintings. The Turkish World, horse and steppe paintings are indispensable subjects for him. The artist, who knows the middle and poor people of Anatolia, also included facts with socialogical and historical qualities in his works. He painted on the epics of the war of ındependence and reflected the endless suffering of the war on the faces of women and children by skillfully using red, brown, gray and white colors in his paintings. When the paintings of the artist are examined, it is seen that he conveyed his experiences, social effects and observations with a unique sensitivity. In this study, the main axis of this research is to analyze the color structure used in Mehmet Başbuğ’s works by analyzing them with computer programs. The color palette used by the artist in his paintings was determined and the extent to which the paintings coincided with the emotions emphasized in their subjects were examined through plutchik’s emotion model. It is though that a common color palette used by the artist in his paintings is important in terms of creating a model for the new generation of painters.
