Summary/Abstract: The field of art education still contains many conceptual discussions in our country as in the world. Today, arts education is understood as not only an educational subdivision, but also as a principle which completely covers and renews education and training together. Arts education aims to help students becoming individuals which are able to see, think, analyze and communicate effectively. To achieve this objective, arts education must be given enough place in school programs and should be included from on preschool education and continue up to primary education, secondary education and the higher education. In Turkey, the arts classes in primary education constitute a problematic field for many reasons. Arising from the general education policies, problems of curriculum, principals, educators, and physical placing are affecting arts education negatively. In this study which deals with the general problems of arts education, we aimed to evaluate the situation of arts education by a survey.
