Summary/Abstract: After overcoming the social, economic and spiritual crisis of the Roman Empire in the middle of the 3rd century, began stabilization. Also was covered and valley of Bregalnica river as part of the eastern half of Roman Empire. Special attention was dedicated to the security and defence of populated areas. In the Late Antique period, new fortification elements were built and rebuilt along the valley of the River Bregalnica to enable greater security, protection and defence from enemy attacks. This process of defence and protection thus led to the construction of fortifications with civilian and military functions. Civilian fortifications along the valley of Bregalnica were essentially of great defensive and protective importance, primarily because of the presence within them of civilians and material and spiritual treasures.
