Summary/Abstract: The Jewish quarters in Thessaloniki were under fire in 1917. The fire destroyed many houses, synagogues, libraries, offices and buildings that belonged to the Jews. This article, based on analysis of two British documents, deals with the British view of the events related to the fire, the consequences of it for the Jews, and the reaction of the Greek state.
