Summary/Abstract: The appointing of Metodija Shatorov Sharlo as a Political Secretary of the party organization of Macedonia in 1940 was a decision which reflected the stabilization and political maturation of the party organization of the part of Macedonia within the framework of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The activity of the Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia in Macedonia under the leadership of the political secretary Shatorov managed to supersede the weaknesses of the party. The number of members increased and a new quality of activity was imposed. On the eve of the Second World War the Regional Committee of the CPY in Macedonia became a relatively mature political player in the Balkan political scene with a national program: for unify Macedonia, to be a leader in the fight against Nazi fascism, and to be an equal member of the anti-fascist coalition. However, the implementation of the program was met with opposition by the Balkan communist parties that fought for dominance over the Macedonian Regional Committee. The political crisis between the CPY and the Bulgarian Communist Party was induced for domination over and leadership, of the Macedonian Regional Committee. The Comintern intervened at a time to settle the dispute. At a time of military isolation and deep penetration of the Nazi forces into Soviet territory, Stalin perceived a military ally in the Yugoslav Partisan movement led by the supreme commander Josip Broz Tito, for his part, insisted that Macedonian Regional Committee be returned in the framework of the CPY. The political elimination of the Metodia Shatorov Sharlo in the fateful moment of the existеnce of the Macedonian Party Organization had a negative effect which could escalate into a political crisis within the Macedonian Regional Committee at the moment when they were making make decisions about conducting an armed uprising. This action, initiated only from the external influence and momentary aspirations of neighboring communist parties could destabilized the party organization and could slow down the process of preparing for an armed insurrection of the Macedonian party organization in the fight for freedom and national recognition.
