Summary/Abstract: The need for social workers with a specialization in gerontology has become a global priority. The schools of social work prepare students for this kind of activity but there are some barriers that make students to be reluctant to working with elderly people. Reasons for students’ disinterest in this area of work are considered, altogether, more general barriers to learning. The purpose of this study was to explore social work students’ reluctance to gerontology and to encourage reflection on attitudes towards working with older people, allowing both individual self-assessment and the exchange of opinions with colleagues.
