Summary/Abstract: Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar fictionalises dilemmas and conflicts on society-individualnature composit as a visionary irony. His works of art that bracketed with dream aesthetics, are as multi-ply and ambiguous products in which the message wanted to be transferred is given covered. The short story named Abdullah Efendi’nin Rüyaları in which Tanpınar’s aesthetics is reflected with all aspects is being fictionalised like a pendulum mechanism that protagonist lurches between poles like reality-dream, order-chaos, hope-desperateness. All events and thoughts lend impetus to this pendulum and causes protagonist’s spineless personality to be shocked who rises against to material world. The plot of the story is expression of events, deliriums, ghosts, supernatural voices, nightmarish illusions and hallucinations of protagonist on his journey to his subconscious with omniscient narrator and point of view. The mood of Abdullah Efendi is being moved to psychoanalytic plane which acts as an insurance of intense mental processes in relation to conscience, preconscious and conscious conciliator with symbolic organizing. In this text which has a carnival chaos, id as an insistent kid of mind tries to realise its desires that are blocked by repressive parent superego through dreams that appear as a balance system.
