Summary/Abstract: There are important stages that make human life different from other days and give rise to blessing. These stages, which are called transition periods, give the person a new status. This status initiates an acceptance by the society. Transition periods in the study were prepared centered on birth, marriage and death. Practices for childbirth, birth of the child in a healthy way, protection of mother and child; practices in marriage, legitimization of togetherness by couples, transformation of marriage into an institution; practices for death are to prepare the person for the other world and to accept the absence of the person. The common element in applications made in transition periods is protection against external threats. While the celebrations and ceremonies have the characteristics of an announcement, the accepted blessing is a result of the critical period in human life and the necessity to be done in that process. In this study, the province of Mardin, which has cultural richness in terms of language and religion, was discussed and the narratives obtained from women in Savur district and the practices made were examined. In the light of this information, it has been tried to reveal the beliefs and some rituals women have in their transition periods.
