Summary/Abstract: The site Obříství (Mělník district) is situated in old settlement area and it is known from older finds, among them the most important is funeral area from Roman period. This article is an introduction to the volume of papers, which evaluates the results of archaeological rescue excavation, which was realized in years 2008–2011 before the construction of 64 family houses on originally agricultural land.The archeological excavation gives evidence of settlement or funeral activities from Neolitihic Linear Pottery Culture to Middle Ages, except of La Tene culture. In this volume are published the results of evaluation of finds from Neolithic period, Eneolitihic period, Roman period, the Great Migrations period, Early Middle Ages and the evidence of funeral activities.
