Summary/Abstract: This study illustrates, both at a theoretical level and through practical examples, a new paradigm in teaching foreign languages. The didactics of culture languages, defined as a distinct subject by the founders of this direction, has developed starting with the 90s and imposes an action-oriented approach in the teaching and learning of foreign languages. In the first part of the article I will diachronically present the methodological mutations in foreign language teaching. This diachronic digression has the role of highlighting the particularities of the action-oriented approach, in relation to previous methodologies, which have lead to the development of culture languages. In the second part, I will depict didactic experiences informed and inspired by the principles of the didactics of culture-languages and I will underline the advantages that this perspective offers to 21st century students. The pragmatic questions that I would like to answer are: how can we contribute to the integration of international students in the socio-cultural and university medium in Romania?; how can we create a didactic context in which communication would be authentic?
