Some Significant Aspects of Culture and Journalism in Interwar Romania

Summary/Abstract: The Great Union of December 1st, 1918 was followed by profound changes in the social, economic, political, cultural, literary and artistic life, thus opening a path to new perspectives of the Romanian culture, literature and journalism from the very next period. First of all, what is characteristic of inter-war culture people is the solid intellectual formation. This allowed unlimited access to the most diverse knowledge areas. The purpose of the paper is to highlight the main aspects of the cultural and spiritual life in the Romanian inter war space, emphasizing the diametrically opposed tendencies and attitudes: Europeanism and autochthonism. These formulas of cultural evolution have given substance to the various ideological debates, caught in the present work.
