Summary/Abstract: Giovanni Sartori was an internationally renowned Italian political analyst. His essays remain the foundations for many political scientists. This article aims to present three books published by Giovanni Sartori, Homo Videns and Pluralismo, multiculturalismo e estranei: saggio sulla società multietnica and La corsa verso il nulla, and compare them in chronological order. It concludes that we may identify two themes that are still valid even nineteen years since the first published essay and that are present in all three books, namely, pluralism in the West and the replacement of the word by the audio-visual. The third theme, which always remained in the background and was not always proclaimed, is that of Italy and its fear, and the hand of support that Giovanni Sartori holds out to his country, its people, society and politics.
