Summary/Abstract: While traditional security approaches idealize a state-centric worldview, the new security understanding has a largely human-centric perspective. Such a difference deeply affects the way these two approaches deal with security. The counterpart of these two different security conceptions in international relations theories are positivist theories and post-positivist theories. In this context, the main problematic of the study; Are there similar aspects between the international relations theories adopting the positivist method and the security approaches of the theories using the post-positivist method? Or does the differentiation/ divergence between the two approaches contain much deeper epistemological and ontological meanings? In this context, the security understanding of international relations theories will be analyzed comparatively.
