Summary/Abstract: The compliance with ethics and deontology by persons operating in the public sector is a prerequisite in order to provide a high quality public service. Ethics advisors play an essential part in preventing deviations from fair conduct and to provide the management of the organization with the required remedies in case of integrity incidents. The legislative regulation of the status of integrity advisors is not enough; the practical enforcement of these legal provisions and the supply of the resources for the proper operation of this institution are highly important. The study aims at performing a comparative study on the institution of “ethics advisors” in Romanian legislation and relevant good practices, on an international level, so as to note whether we are able to provide a genuine level of observance of ethics.
