Summary/Abstract: The article explores Edmund Bojanowski’s idea of integral upbringing with its intrinsic idea of child protection. It is based on the analysis of creative thought and explorations of this 19thcentury outstanding Polish social activist and thinker. His pedagogical thought keeps its relevance and nowadays remains an important reference point for pedagogical practice. The Author emphasises the originality of Edmund Bojanowski’s upbringing system, which in its basic assumptions refers to nature, history and religion and can be successfully used as a valuable tool in the process of shaping strong and harmonious personalities in children. Material and methods. Source literature and studies on the concept of education of Edmund Bojanowski were used. Results. According to E. Bojanowski, “educational success” can be achieved by caring for the integral development and upbringing of the child. Conclusions. Without a well-understood “protection” of the child, the integral development and upbringing of the child is significantly hindered.
