Summary/Abstract: Following the adoption of the Act on the Czechoslovak Federation, the ministries of the interior of the Czech Socialist Republic and Slovak Socialist Republic were established in 1969, along with the Federal Ministry of the Interior of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, whose competence comprised nationwide affairs. From 1970 the Federal Ministry commanded all the state security services (StB), and during so-called extraordinary events (which especially meant anti-regime demonstrations) it controlled all the deployed forces.
