Summary/Abstract: Robert Sylten was never significant figure. Neither have his deeds entered the history books in any notable way. Nevertheless, his life story can by no means be regarded as run-of-the-mill. The troubled history of the 20th century left a dramatic mark on his life and in following the twists of fate in Sylten’s life a number of the practices of totalitarian regimes become very clear to us. As this biographical study reveals, Robert Sylten was in fact a voluntary though not overly willing agent of the StB in Israel.
