Summary/Abstract: This article examines job satisfaction of employees in the Greek public sector. More specifically, job satisfaction is examined between employees of the Region of Western Greece who, on a daily basis, serve the needs of a large geographical region and come into contact with the public as well as with other services at a local, regional and national level. To achieve this, we conducted an empirical research using the structured questionnaire method in accordance with the MSQ model. Data from 100 district employees were collected and processed descriptively through SPSS. From the findings of this research and in accordance with those of other international surveys, we find that the highest job satisfaction the employees receive is from safety at work, sense of social responsibility and working with colleagues. In contrast, most employees show dissatisfaction with their autonomy at work and the limited scope for exploiting their creativity and judgment. Additionally, as expected, the employees’ dissatisfaction is strong regarding the level of their salaries and with the opportunities for their development and the recognition of their work.
