Insatiable adulthood of people with intellectual disabilities

Summary/Abstract: The topic of adulthood is more and more often raised both in scientific circles as well as among people who come into contact with people with disabilities in their work. Adulthood is difficult to define because it can be viewed from many perspectives. The criteria that define its limits are fluid. This generates constantly emerging doubts connecting the tasks assigned for this period of time and the expectations of the interested persons themselves in fulfilling them. A certain insatiability arises relating to the aforementioned adulthood category, due to the impossibility of fulfilling the tasks assigned for this period. The aim of the presented article is to analyze the fulfillment of developmental tasks in adulthood by people with intellectual disabilities.
