Summary/Abstract: The article describes historical events related to pandemics, such as the current one, which changed the daily life of every member of society. Based on Eurostat data, an analysis was performed for the period immediately before and during the pandemic situation (2018-2020). The main negative trends related to the current crisis have been identified, leading to the deteriorating state of all social systems, including the labour market. Conclusions and recommendations that could contribute to improving the state of the EU workforce are substantiated.
