Summary/Abstract: Bizye’s coinage took place in the period from the end of the first decade of the 2nd century AD to the middle of the 3rd century AD (247 AD). During these nearly one and a half centuries, this Roman provincial city issued coins for six emperors and the members of their families. A large number of publications by foreign and Bulgarian authors alike have been dedicated to Bizye’s coinage. Despite the large number of hitherto published reverse dies differing in their iconography, Bizye’s coinage does not cease to present us with interesting surprises. In this publication we present three new, hitherto unknown to the numismatic literature, extremely rare coins of Bizye, issued for Julia Domna, Geta-Augustus and Philip II-Caesar. The coins hail from private collections and have been systematized chronologically, in the order of their issuance, and illustrated in real size.
