Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present Margaret S. Archer’s morphogenetic approach to cultural change. The author places the main elements of Archer’s conception in the context of sociological realism and ontological postulates made by David Lockwood (social integration vs system integration) and Roy Bhaskar (realist social structure). The author underlines the importance of Archer’s analytical dualism as the explanatory program based on those postulates. The aim of the article is also to pose a question on topicality and usefulness of the conception in describing and explaining cultural changes in contemporary societies.
