Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the narration of The Voyage to the city of Jerusalem (1727), chiefly the chronotope of the road and the chronotope of the pilgrimage, to point out the particularities of the existential situation of its author, hieromonk Jerotej Račanin (he was called that way – Jerotej from the Rača monastery – because of his origin from the Rača monastery situated near the Drina river, but during The First Great Migration of the Serbs Jerotej migrated to the Habsburg Monarchy; The Voyage to the city of Jerusalem was written in the Remeta monastery at Fruška Gora). Jerotej’s existential situation was determined by different time perceptions – linear/profane in the chronotope of the road and circular/sacred in the chronotope of pilgrimage – linked with different sensing of space: realistic as well as metaphysical landscape.
