Summary/Abstract: During its activity, MNEIN [National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History] has supported the research, collecting and promotion of the culture of ethnic minorities from the Republic of Moldova. The items collected by the museum concerning the cultural heritage of Bulgarians and Gagauz, due to their significant number, bear an important place in the context of formation and development of collections of cultural properties related to the fields of weaving and folk dress. At the same time, the museum promotes samples of the material and spiritual culture of these communities, by presenting them in the permanent exhibition “Nature. Man. Culture” and within numerous cultural activities organised by the institution. These collections provide an obvious documentary source for folklorists, ethnographers and researchers interested in the cultural traditions of ethnic minorities from our country. Basing on materials from collections and on ethnographic information from the second half of 19th – early 20th century, the paper examines the most representative components of the folk costume worn by women of Bulgarian nationality from Bessarabia/Republic of Moldova, for a better knowledge about the identity marks of our fellow countrymen, the Bulgarians.
