THE THEORY OF OFFICE FORMATION

Summary/Abstract: Patrick Dunleavy has had contributions in various directions, from the electoral system to urban studies and administration. However, it can be seen that most of his work is devoted to political science in the broadest sense (including issues on administration or relations between different organizations and social groups), while his work in public choice theory showed an important concern regarding the political aspects, in terms of political economy, if not only on economy itself. Thus, Dunleavy chooses to understand rationality in terms of satisfying the strictly economically defined individual interest, being reserved for a restrictive assumption of public choice theory.
