Summary/Abstract: In his novel Tyll, Daniel Kehlmann explores the limits of humor by, among other things, mixing comedy with seriousness or using postirony. This article examines the varie-ties of humor and methods of creating comic elements, which Kehlmann uses differently in his novel, both on the linguistic level and in the construction and content of the novel. In ad-dition, Tyll provides some examples of postirony, as an irony of irony, which describes a lit-erary process of transcending irony for example by realizing its punch line.
