Summary/Abstract: The election of the President of Mexico takes place periodically, every six years without the possibility of re-election. However, the current process of electing a president has evolved profoundly since the 19th century. Despite the changes, art. 80 of the Mexican Constitution does not modify and under it the president is a one man representative of the executive. How was the evolution of the institution of the election of the President of Mexico shaped? What institutions participate in the election of the president? In conclusion, it should be noted that the formation of the institution of choice of the executive branch of Mexico has its historical sources, which today play a huge role in shaping the role of the president.
