STRUCTURAL - GEOMORPHOLOGICAL ANALISYS OF THE TYPES OF VALLYS NETWORK ON THE MOUNTAIN MASSIFS OF SJEVERN I VELEBIT AND SENJSKO BILO

Summary/Abstract: On the mountain massifs North Velebit and Senjsko bilo the general distribution of valleys was analysed. Three main types of valleys network with numerous subtypes and few transitional types were established. The costal slope is characterized by parallel valleys network, the top part of Sjeverni Velebit and Senjsko bilo by tipical angular valleys network and the bigger remnant part by of investigated area is characterized by trellis valleys network. At the contact of parallel, angular and trellis valleys network the transitional types were developed. The result of comparation analisys of valleys network map with lithological and hidrogeological maps showed no significant corelation, so it can be concluded that the developement of specific valleys network is primarly the reflect of the geological structure and tectonic movements.The boundarys of the different types of valleys network very often correspond with faults, so they also outline particular tectonic blocks.
