Summary/Abstract: The problem of the origin of Kamyanets-Podilsky has been an subject of interest for scientists since the 19th century. In the previous works, the author argued the main provisions of the concept, according to which the city was founded in the Late Antique period as a fortress. The subject of this article is the communication between the city located on the island and the castle on the plateau – the Zamkovy Bridge (Castle Bridge). The goal of the article is to provide arguments confirming that the bridge was built in the first centuries AD as a connecting link between the plateau and the city which the author recognizes as a Romanized Dacian settlement. The history of the construction of the Castle Bridge has ten stages. The results of the research give grounds to reconsider the dating of the first stage of the viaduct, deepening its chronology to the era of the period of Trajan wars. The Castle Bridge, which is a rare example of a surviving late antique engineering structure in Central and Eastern Europe, is considered by the author as casus pontis in bridge construction, given its topographical and engineering characteristics, as well as the range of related interdisciplinary problems that had to be raised during the study of the building.
