Summary/Abstract: Love can be considered as a factor that shapes our consciousness and interpersonal references to the greatest extent, and at the same time is complex and multifaceted. It was no different in the Middle Ages, although the then “problems” related to love are significantly different from those of today. The article draws attention to those issues that constituted the attitude of scholasticism to the broadly understood term “love” in the context of the relationship between a man and a woman. It is primarily about the depreciation of a woman and a rather ambivalent approach to such strongly connected with love areas as corporeality and sexuality.
