Summary/Abstract: The author explains the need which makes the first FemFestival essential in setting up a firm foundation for a solid platform of feminist thought in the public space. Thus, they intentionally play with Kant's categorical imperative, naming the symposium Categorical Feminism – The Necessity of a Feminist Theory and Practice, thereby emphasising not just the need for it, but its necessity. With the festival, the authors wanted to examine just what had been going on with feminism in these regions since its beginnings, and where it's at now. She assumes that the tradition of feminist gatherings in Croatia has been interrupted, meaning not that there has been no such initiatives, but only that maintaining continuity hasn't succeeded. Thus, the main intention of FemFest is to renew the continuity, to open up a space and, since this was the first go, to mark it by a pluralism of ideas, themes, attitudes, generations, engagements and specialisations.
