Summary/Abstract: The role of the intelligence services in ensuring the political security of each state has risen sharply in the latest years. The activity of the intelligence services contributes to narrowing the spectrum of threats to national security, neutralizes internal and external challenges arising from the progressive development of the society and the state, thus increasing their potential and impact on the international scene. Like other major powers, also inside the present Russia, the intelligence services are undoubtedly an integral part of the society, and their involvement in the political process, in real politics, as well as the direct control that they have and still hold on of the country political life, characterizing the history of Russia for centuries. Under this syntagmatic phrase, the intelligence services usually refer to state bodies created to protect national interests and security, both within the country and on the international scene. The current issue is a recurring one, because throughout the history of Russia, the issue of state security has been constantly at the heart of the authorities' attention.
