European stereotypes about Russia and mutual cultural influence

Summary/Abstract: Consciousness stereotyping is externally subordinated to the logic of a mass communication society, but, in reality, it destroys the basis of the rational discourse. The European public and the intellectual community attempt to build their perception of Russia on the basis of a certain set of stereotypes is an example in this regard. However, the existence of these stereotypes does not cancel the cross-cultural issues and the mutual cultural influences, a prerogative of them being the linguistic loans.
