Summary/Abstract: The article presents an analysis of the handwritten journal for children “Zorza Polska. Miesięcznik dla Dzieci,” kept in the collection of the Silesian Library in Katowice (reference number R 1416 III). The creator of the magazine was Kazimierz Wallis (1896–1918), son of Łukasz Wallis (1863–1940), a well-known collector of Silesian folk songs. In the 22 issues, created between October 1909 and January 1912, he published works of his own authorship – stories, poems (a few translated by himself), descriptions, anecdotes, jokes, rebuses, golden thoughts, and drawings. The journal was most likely bound by the Wallis. At the end of the volume, cards of dark, thicker paper were added, on which 28 drawings by Kazimierz were glued. Some of them were created during his service in the German army during World War I. Kazimierz Wallis was lost on September 27, 1918 in the battle of Havrincourt near Arras in the Pas-de-Calais department.
