Summary/Abstract: Educational potential of musical folklore in the teaching process of study subject History of Ukraine in the middle grades of secondary school has been highlighted in given article. The article offers special examples of the musical folklore use for didactic and educational purposes. Based on the analysis of the available Ukrainian folk song material, the author proves the need including folklore to the practice of teaching the history of Ukraine in the middle grades of secondary school. It was made also an analysis of the educational potential of Ukrainian musical folklore in the same spheres. In the era of globalization, which ―wash away traditional ethnic values, we consider the formulation of such an issue in terms of education relevant. The purpose of this study is to provide certain guidelines for history teachers on the use of musical folklore in the teaching process in history lessons in grades 5฀9 of high school. The methodology of the proposed article is based on the analysis, synthesis and specific development of methodological and general didactic guidelines for involving musical folklore in the history of Ukraine subject study plan. Conclusions. The proposed recommendations for the use of musical ethnography material in history lessons will enrich the sources of teachers' methodology and allow students to understand the connection between oral folklore and national history. The history of our people will be filled with real human emotions that have accompanied them for centuries and created the genetic code of the nation on which is based the understanding of national development.
