Summary/Abstract: The past is life, it is living life for those who lived it, and peo ple desperately need memories from life! Historians do not invent these memories, but reconstruct them. History does not mean the recording of lifeless things, of the shadows of the past. It is a living science. The past, the present and the future must be understood together, they are words that name the same evolution of humanity. That is why it is inconceivable to live today and look ahead, ignoring what is behind us. A fundamental dimension of human thought and consciousness, history – with such a rich tradition in Romanian culture – will have to maintain its place that has occupied it for so many generations. But a science lives through the people who represent it. In the glorious past of the Romanians there are also found the broken destinies of the Muscelians from Boteni, who made the supreme sacrifice on the battlefields for the unification of our nation. They are heirs to ancestral heroic traditions, fearless fighters for our freedom, independ ence and dignity. Glory to the Romanian soldiers!
