Summary/Abstract: The paper examines some cases of misusage of two of Bulgarian tenses: Aorist and Imperfect. According to Bulgarian descriptive grammar, Aorist has meaning and usage, similar to the meaning and the usage of Past simple in English. Imperfect has meaning and is used both like the Past continuous and like the construction used to in English. In recent years, Aorist of 1 person singular, as well as of plural is used in contexts which traditionally require usage of Imperfect. On the contrary, in contexts, when usage of Aorist is expected, Imperfect is used if the verb is in 3 person singular. These misuses are discussed both from extralinguistic as well as form intralinguistic point of view.
