Summary/Abstract: The biographies of personalities whose lives are significant enough to be studied in school may constitute either positive examples that ought to be followed or life lessons acting as warnings. Teachers – whatever their specialization – have a unique opportunity to promote civic values and contribute to the creation of good citizens when referring to biographies in the classroom: they will educate the kind of citizens who can learn from both the success and the errors of others.
