POLITICAL SOCIALIZATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE - THEORY AND CONCEPTUALIZATIONS

Summary/Abstract: The complexity of socialization, especially the political one, must be studied from an interdisciplinary perspective. The political socialization represents a system of values and orientations with a special political content. Being part of a community implies the learning and mastery of a symbolical code. The formal socialization supposes the intervention of a conscious instance to the socialization from certain institutions – school, family, teachers, specialists in pedagogy, sociology, regarding the development of receptivity or for social abilities – social obligations and social participation. Indirect forms of socialization represent acquisitions that aren’t political, but can influence the formation of a “political self”.
