Summary/Abstract: The present article, the result of a doctoral research, provides a brief review of past key dates regarding the evolution of the property structure in modern Romania. The information from the documents used help us to better understand the importance of a peasant property that will keep its importance until quite lately and inspired lively discussions among Romanian and foreign specialists.
