Summary/Abstract: The birth certificate of the Moldavian language as a Soviet political project aimed at creating a Moldavian ethnic identity opposed to that of the Romanians may be traced back to the origins of the Moldavian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The confrontation between the Bolsheviks of Romanian origin and the Bolsheviks from Bessarabia supported by the Communist Party of Ukraine generated the idea of a Moldavian language separated from Romanian.
