Summary/Abstract: In the present study we tried to bring forward few aspects from theactivity of one of the greatest intellectuals of the 19th century. Although as astructure he was a jurist and was being remarked in this sector occupying veryimportant functions such as: president of the Ilfov court, first president of theCourt of Appeal from Bucharest; member of the Court of Cassation;administrator of the domains and forests of the state; royal director at Berlin ofthe Romanian railways; member of the Court of Arbitration from Hague, heremained known in history as an administrator of the Crown Domains (1884-1913) and president of the Romanian Academy, the History Section (1895-1898; 1907-1910). His scientific activity is also remarkable, Ion Kalinderuhaving the necessary capacity to approach a wide variety of themes: Romanlaw, historic, economic, political and moral ones.
