Chişinău settlement – the eponym site of the Early Hallstatt with grooved ceramic from the Prut-Dniester interfluve

Summary/Abstract: The article proposes a brief presentation of the researches from the Early Hallstatt settlementwith grooved ceramics investigated near Chișinău by A. Meliukova in 1955–1956. The study presents information about the history of research, description of the complexes, and archaeological materials. Their general anddetailed analysis allowed defining parameters, which find similarities in other monuments specific to the EarlyHallstatt with grooved pottery in the Eastern Carpathian area. Also, an attempt was made to identify the role ofthis settlement in the evolution of the Chișinău-Corlăteni culture.
