Summary/Abstract: In the late 90s, the economies of Central and Eastern European countries have turned from central planning to market-oriented ones which contributed to a significant transformation of all the societal sectors. Moreover, the way of the economy restructuring leaded to a different growth and development levels of the countries. The issues of the Bulgarian economy transformation as a whole are presented in the paper with a special focus on the prerequisites and factors of processes.
