Summary/Abstract: The article shows the city of Gdansk as a ‘small homeland’ for the protagonists of the three novels. Homeland for people who paradoxically are perceived as ‘strangers’ by the other inhabitants of the city. The article is a discussion about community, closeness and taming the strangeness, thanks to a common place – a small homeland.
